RE-SHAFTING

When removing an old grip, if the grip is worn and no longer has value, use a hook blade on a Stanley knife to slice the grip without slicing the shaft and then pull off the grip. If using a regular blade or scissors, take care not to scratch the shaft.

If the grip is still usable, you can use a grip rod, spirit pump or spirit injections (Or other methods) to remove the grip without damaging it for future use.

Once removed, use a towel and white spirit to clean the shaft. If there is tape still on the shaft which is not easily coming away, use a heat gun or blow torch to get it loose and it should then be easier to remove.

Once clean, apply a strip of double sided grip tape down the shaft (If 2" tape) or wrap the tape down the shaft in a spiral pattern if 1/2" tape then remove the top layer of the tape.

Pour white spirit (Or substitute) into the open end of the grip and keep your finger over the hole in the butt of the grip. Place the grip over something to safely catch the white spirit and then remove your finger from the hole allowing the white spirit to evenly cover the taped up area where the grip will be going.

Place the club on the ground with the butt of the shaft leaning on your waist and then carefully slide the grip over the top of the shaft, slowly pulling it down into position. Try to get the logo lined up in the desired position on your first pulling of the grip to avoid the need to twist it later. Pull it straight down and when it is close to the correct position, push it from the top to avoid stretching the grip. Check the alignment of the grip and carefully twist it into position. Once in the correct position, use a towel and white spirit to clean the shaft.
